Bedrooms alone do not determine cleaning time. Bathrooms, living areas, condition, clutter, pets, access and the result you expect can change the realistic number of hours.
First understand team hours
Maid At Home prices Hourly Cleaning by booked team hour. One cleaner for three hours is three team hours. Two cleaners for ninety minutes also use three team hours. This makes the purchased labour consistent even when the team configuration changes.
The July 2026 one-off rate is $60 per team hour with a two-hour minimum. Eligible weekly and fortnightly bookings receive 10% off from service two; every-three- or four-week services receive 5% off from service two.
Why online hour estimates vary
A maintained two-bedroom apartment with one bathroom and clear surfaces is not equivalent to a two-bedroom house with two bathrooms, pets, stairs and months of buildup. The same number of bedrooms can hide very different work.
Time is shaped by:
- number of bathrooms, living rooms, studies and levels;
- current dust, grease, soap residue and floor condition;
- clutter that blocks surfaces or floors;
- pets, shedding and high-use entry areas;
- special finishes or product restrictions;
- parking, keys, lifts and equipment access;
- selected tasks such as oven, fridge, windows or cabinets;
- whether you expect priorities or whole-home completion.
For these reasons, any generic table is a starting point rather than a guarantee.
Practical starting ranges
For a maintained home with accessible surfaces, the following team-hour ranges can help structure a priority booking:

These ranges are editorial guidance, not Maid At Home flat-rate completion promises. Heavy buildup, clutter and extras can push the work beyond them. A professional may recommend a Standard Clean or Deep Clean when you want a defined service rather than a time limit.
Build a priority list that works
Put health, hygiene and the rooms you use most at the top. A practical order might be main bathroom, kitchen, floors in living areas, second bathroom, bedrooms and optional detail.
Describe each task specifically. “Clean the kitchen” is less useful than “benchtops, sink, cooktop exterior and floor; inside oven only if time remains.” Clear ordering lets the cleaner stop at a sensible boundary if the purchased hours expire.
Do not make every item a top priority. If twelve tasks are all described as essential, the list does not help the cleaner decide where time should go.
Add time for extras and condition
Inside appliances, wet-wiping blinds, wall work and cabinet interiors are more time-intensive than routine exposed surfaces. Under an hourly model, most of these tasks use the booked time. Carpet steam cleaning is separate and cannot simply be absorbed into ordinary cleaning hours.
Visible buildup also changes pace. Thick grease or soap residue needs product dwell time and repeated work. If several rooms share that condition, a Deep Clean is usually more realistic than adding one hour to a routine booking.
Three examples
Maintained one-bedroom apartment: begin with two or three team hours, prioritising the bathroom, kitchen and all floors. Add time if the building has difficult access or if inside-appliance work is requested.
Three-bedroom family home with a pet: four to six team hours may provide a useful starting range for routine condition. Put high-use bathrooms, kitchen and pet-hair floor areas first.
Two-bedroom home after a long cleaning gap: bedroom count suggests a small property, but widespread buildup may make hourly maintenance a poor choice. Compare a one-off Deep Clean priced from $245 for two bedrooms before trying to compress the work.
When flat-rate service is better
Choose flat-rate cleaning when you want the published core checklist completed for the chosen home size and service. Choose hourly cleaning when you want to control spend and priorities and accept that the cleaner stops when team time is used.
