A useful cleaning quote should describe the result, not just promise a number of hours. This room-by-room guide shows Maid At Home's core regular scope and the tasks that need separate selection.
The core house cleaning scope
A professional Standard House Clean is designed for an occupied, maintained home. It covers routine accessible surfaces in the main rooms. “Accessible” matters: cleaners cannot safely work behind heavy furniture, handle hazardous waste or guess how a delicate finish should be treated.
The list below describes Maid At Home’s regular service. Other companies may define the same label differently, so compare the published checklist before comparing prices.
Kitchen inclusions
The regular kitchen scope includes benchtops, accessible splashback, sink, tapware, cooktop exterior, appliance exteriors, outside cupboard surfaces and the floor. Ordinary recent marks are expected.
The inside of the oven, fridge and cupboards are not part of the regular core clean. They take additional time and should be selected as extras. Emptying cabinets or moving food is not silently included.
If thick grease extends across several surfaces, a Deep Clean may be required even if the oven interior is booked separately. Permanent discolouration or damaged coatings cannot be corrected by cleaning.
Bathroom inclusions
Regular bathroom work includes the shower or bath, accessible tiles, toilet, vanity, basin, mirrors, tapware, bins and floors. The goal is routine maintenance of recent household use.
Heavy scale, mould concerns, damaged grout and long-term soap buildup require a different assessment. Cleaning is not mould remediation, regrouting or repair. Mention these conditions before booking rather than expecting them to be discovered on arrival.
Bedrooms and living areas
Accessible horizontal surfaces are dusted, floors are vacuumed and suitable hard floors are mopped. Reachable mirrors and ledges can be attended. Beds may be made with existing linen; changing linen is a selected extra.
Loose belongings should be tidied before the service. Light items may be moved as practical, but cleaners do not organise personal possessions, move heavy furniture or decide where valuable items belong. Clear surfaces provide more usable cleaning time.
Floors throughout the home
Routine floor care means accessible vacuuming and mopping appropriate hard floors. It does not mean carpet steam cleaning, machine polishing, stain restoration or moving heavy furniture.
Tell the provider about delicate timber, natural stone, damaged flooring or product restrictions before the visit. For carpet steam treatment, book the separate Carpet Cleaning service and disclose room quantities, fibres, stains, furniture and drying access.

Extras must remain safely accessible. Interior windows do not imply unsafe-height exterior glass; wall cleaning does not guarantee removal of permanent marks; appliance cleaning does not include repair or dismantling sealed components.
Standard, Deep and Hourly inclusions differ
Standard Cleaning provides a defined maintenance scope. Deep Cleaning gives more time to accumulated dust, grease, edges, skirting and detail throughout the home, while specialist extras remain separate.
Hourly Cleaning is different: you buy team time and provide an ordered priority list. Most ordinary detail tasks use that booked time rather than carrying a separate fee. Completion of every task cannot be guaranteed if the list is longer than the hours purchased.
Move In and End of Lease Cleaning are empty-property services. Their scopes can include empty cabinet interiors and the oven because those tasks are relevant to handover. Carpet steam cleaning remains separate unless clearly added.
What is normally excluded?
Normal domestic cleaning does not include hazardous material, pest treatment, exterior pressure washing, gardening, rubbish removal, heavy lifting, unsafe-height work, repairs, restoration or guaranteed removal of permanent stains. A cleaner may also decline areas that are unsafe or materials for which suitable treatment has not been confirmed.
How to prevent scope surprises
Before booking, count bedrooms, bathrooms, living areas and levels. Describe the current condition honestly, choose extras explicitly and send photos when buildup or finishes are difficult to explain. Confirm access, parking, pets and equipment expectations.
After the service, review the agreed scope promptly. If an included item appears to have been missed, contact Maid At Home within 48 hours with useful details so the booking can be reviewed and the appropriate follow-up coordinated.
